Airport & Taxi

Airport Transfers & Pickups

How does the airport pickup work at Colombo Bandaranaike Airport (BIA / CMB)?
When you land and clear customs, proceed through the arrivals exit into the main terminal hall. Your assigned Olanka Tours chauffeur will be waiting inside the arrival lobby holding a personalized name sign. Prior to your departure, we will send you the driver's name, phone number, and vehicle details via WhatsApp or email. Our team tracks your flight in real time, guaranteeing your driver is ready when you walk out.
What happens if my flight is delayed or rescheduled?
No need to worry. We monitor live flight radar for all inbound flights. If your flight is delayed, arrives early, or experiences schedule adjustments, your driver automatically adjusts their arrival time with zero extra waiting charges. If your airline changes your flight number or date entirely, simply send a quick WhatsApp message to our 24/7 hotline (+94 77 985 7420) so we can update your record.
Are highway expressway tolls and airport parking fees included in the taxi fare?
Yes! All Olanka Tours airport transfer quotes and taxi prices are strictly all-inclusive. Highway expressway tolls (such as the Southern Expressway E01 to Galle/Matara, Colombo Katunayake Expressway E03, and Central Expressway E04), airport parking charges, fuel, and air conditioning are fully covered. There are never any roadside hidden fees or unannounced surcharges.
Can we stop for local SIM cards, currency exchange, or snacks on the way?
Yes, absolutely. Our chauffeurs are glad to wait while you obtain a local tourist SIM or eSIM (Dialog / Mobitel), withdraw cash from an ATM, or exchange currency at the official airport counters. During the journey, you are welcome to request stops for clean restroom breaks, king coconut drinks, snacks, or scenic photo opportunities at no additional cost.

Bespoke Travel

Private Tours & Itineraries

Can we customize our tour itinerary, stops, and schedule?
Yes! Custom, tailor-made travel is our hallmark. Every itinerary on our website can be customized to match your desired duration, travel dates, preferred destinations, and family preferences. Whether you wish to explore cultural heritage in Sigiriya and Kandy, tea country landscapes in Nuwara Eliya and Ella, wildlife safaris in Yala or Udawalawe, or pristine southern beaches in Hikkaduwa and Mirissa, we customize your trip around you.
Does our chauffeur-driver act as our local guide?
Yes. For individual travelers, couples, and small families, our English-speaking tourist chauffeur guides provide dedicated private transport, navigate scenic country routes, assist with hotel check-ins, share rich cultural background, and advise on authentic dining and local sights. For specialized archaeological sites (such as Sigiriya rock fortress or Polonnaruwa ruins) or larger coach groups, licensed National Tour Guides or local site specialists can also be arranged.
Are driver meals and accommodation covered on multi-day tours?
Yes, absolutely. You do not have to worry about driver food or lodging. Most tourist-certified hotels in Sri Lanka provide complimentary driver quarters. If you choose a private rental villa or secluded boutique homestay that does not have driver facilities, we arrange and cover external lodging for the driver nearby at no extra inconvenience or surprise cost to you.
Are national park safaris and scenic train rides arranged by Olanka Tours?
Yes! We can arrange 4x4 open safari jeeps with experienced trackers for Yala, Wilpattu, Minneriya, and Udawalawe national parks, as well as reserved 1st or 2nd class reserved observation train tickets for the world-famous Kandy to Ella mountain railway journey.

Visitor Tips

Sri Lanka Travel Advice & Essentials

Do international travelers require a visa before arriving in Sri Lanka?
Most international visitors require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) / Tourist Visa prior to arrival in Sri Lanka. Applications can be submitted online via the official Sri Lankan immigration website. Please verify that your passport has at least 6 months validity from your planned arrival date.
What should we wear when visiting Buddhist and Hindu temples?
When visiting sacred religious sites (such as the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy, Dambulla Cave Temples, or the ancient city of Anuradhapura), respectful clothing is mandatory: shoulders and knees must be covered for all visitors, and hats, caps, and footwear must be removed at temple entrances. Light, breathable white or pale cotton attire is recommended.
When is the best time of year to visit Sri Lanka?
Sri Lanka is a genuine year-round holiday destination thanks to its dual monsoon climate! From November through April, the south and west coasts (Hikkaduwa, Galle, Mirissa, Bentota, Colombo) and central hills enjoy warm, sunny weather. From May through October, the eastern and northern regions (Trincomalee, Pasikudah, Jaffna) experience pristine beach conditions.
